I drew two sketches for this one but ran out of time so I finished the less detailed of the two.

This is my first entry in an SCBWI illustration contest. This is the assignment:
We’ve all heard about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never found one… So, your task for this contest is to illustrate what’s REALLY there. (No images of an empty sidewalk.)
My solution: At the end of the rainbow is a pot of Grendma’s chicken noodle soup!
I finally got around to finishing the idea I wanted to do for Illustration Friday’s “Tea” from March.
What is with the “sp” topics? Spring… Speed… Spotted…
Anyway, here we have La Bug Jatte.
“Boys, that’s just great. But next time, don’t be so clever”
–Stephen Sondheim (Merrily We Roll Along)
Topic was “speed” so I tried to do it up really fast, too. Total: 4.5 hours. I’m getting better. Bill’s fascinated with what he calls my “zen archery” approach to illustration.
Jason double-challenged me by informing me that I had to draw “Spring Chickens!”
